Bobby Jo Valentine writes songs that travel light, but “grow deeper and deeper with each further listen”, says music publication Soundtrack to My Day. The poetic nature and focus of his stories and songs is something that, along with notable awards, has resulted in an incredibly loyal following of true patrons to his art, supporting Bobby in every way as he seeks to write more music that means something good, and sounds like the beautiful, terrifying world that we live in.
Hope-folk. Soul-pop. Poetic rock. Bobby Jo's music exists outside the lines of any genre, but the music’s thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies reach listeners on all paths of life. The authentic, universal, uncanny nature of his songs have won him Songwriter of the Year at West Coast Songwriter’s Association twice – in 2011 and 2015. He’s sold 16,000 albums and performed more than 500 concerts—all without a record label—and all because of devoted groups of fans and friends who grow in number after every concert.
Emily Zisman is an up-and-coming folk-Americana singer-songwriter born and raised in the San Francisco Bay As a feminist songwriter, she takes writing cues from artists like Dar Williams, Joni Mitchell, and Ani DiFranco. She sings of our vulnerabilities and fears, love and fight, crafting her lyrics into song with her soulfully-folk voice evocative of Emmylou Harris. “Songwriting helps me regain my strength through the practice. I can only hope that my songs will help others in the same way.”
When asked what she loves about performing, Emily replies, “I love the energy shared between an audience and a performer. When it’s there, the interplay between the listeners and performers can create an experience unique to a given space and time. It’s hard not to get carried away in the moment.”
