ABOUT ABOUT

Join us January 11 for the first show of 2020 featuring Owen Roberts of Shady Maples and To Wake You (Mark Davis and Karoline Hausted).

Born in San Francisco and raised in Bay Area lumber yards, Owen Roberts' music has been described as "visceral" (San Francisco Chronicle), "perfectly Californian" (KQED), and "explosive" (NBC San Diego). As frontman and songwriter for the Berkeley-based band Shady Maples, Roberts has toured the coasts as a solo artist and band leader.

Mark Davis and Karoline Hausted are the duo known as To Wake You from San Luis Obispo. The songs on their EP, Beauty In The Smallest Things, were written while the duo lived miles apart, preparing for a life together in no small part through musical dialogue and collaboration.  A wonderful collaboration between Danish Karoline Hausted and American Mark Davis began back in 2002 when the two wrote a song together at a retreat on an island in Denmark. For the next eight years, they had no communication with each other...

When they met again, the stars were aligned differently, and doors swung open. The musical dialogue deepened and flourished, and To Wake You was born. While there is contrast between the two - the expected feminine/masculine interplay, Hausted’s lilting Scandinavian folk influences meeting Davis’ rumbling folk-rock sensibilities - the two have created a unified field of their own. To Wake You is music to close your eyes and travel to... it’s an other-worldly place of wonder, of mystery, and of the heart.

To Wake You has begun performing “Winter and the Sacred Tree” concerts around the globe every year between November and March, which include Karoline on the celtic harp. These are intimate, quiet concerts designed for reflection and a deepening connection to nature and soul. Mark and Karoline also now offer yoga classes with live music and singing meditations.

Solo accolades include a Danish Folk Grammy nomination for Karoline and Mark’s You Came Screaming named Album of the Decade by the Los Angeles Times.

Suggested donation: $10 advance at inside-lands.ticketleap.com or $20 at the door.

Looking forward to seeing you on tonight!
